Who is the Cookie Nurse?

Hi! I'm Kat. I'm a full time ICU nurse and a part time nursing degree student.

I started out the Cookie Nurse in 2020 out of boredom which eventually turned into a small business to help out with the bills at home as my partner's job was affected during the pandemic. We have come a long way to build the Cookie Nurse to where it is today :')

How it all began..

I've started being in the kitchen since I was about 4-5 years old. I loved being in the kitchen - mainly because my parents were running tuition classes back to back so they've been encouraging us to be independent with chores including cooking (under supervision). 

Apart from that, I grew up being really close to my aunt who runs a home based 'Tingkat' business. I would stay in the kitchen and watch her prepare the meals and it always amazes me despite her being short-fused while at it (I have the same genes from my mum's side when it comes to being in the kitchen hahahah)

Being the youngest in the family, I had all the love and adoration from my elder siblings, especially my sister, Karen. She would buy me cook books (and true crime books) whenever she could because she knew I love these 2 the most! And I still do hahaha.

When I was 17, our dad got really sick while I was still a nursing student back in Malaysia. I deferred my studies and my sister came back as well so that we could spend more time and be close with our family. I vaguely remember what was exactly happening to dad back then (that was how protective Karen was of me) but all I remember clearly was that we were on standby because dad was still in the hospital. We couldn't sleep and we would spend hours talking and digging up old stuff in our rooms and we dug out my first cook book that she got me. So we started baking random bakes and called ourselves "The Midnight Bakers"..
